Finally bit the bullet and bought a Large Sebenza 31 in Magnacut to see what the hype was about. Beautiful knife and the build quality is excellent. I can see why people complain about the thumb stud though. Action admittedly pretty stiff out of the box and was messing with it last night to break it in a little. Suffice to say, my thumb is a bit sore this morning 😅 Plan on giving it a sharpen as I'm not really a convex guy. Still deciding what kind of edge I want on it. Looking forward to using it more. Very pleased so far. The Insingo variant is next on my list as I think I'll like that blade shape more for general use.

Welcome to the club. Great knife!
Thanks. I probably should've joined sooner.

Congratulations. The thumb stud is definitely something to get used to
Thanks. I've read of people removing the stud and replacing it. Might have to look into that bit more. Definitely prefer the taller cylindrical style studs, but I imagine this will get better once it's broken in more.

Congratulations
Thumb stud needs a little technique, but you should get it. It also does not catch on your pocket, like many.

They take a little to get use to. Once you break it in the opening will be easier. When you go to take it apart you will really appreciate the simplicity and tolerances.

Thanks. Yeah I seem to be getting used to it, or it's starting to break in. Either way, really enjoying it so far.

Refreshing to see a knife that doesn't have its warranty voided by the simple act of disassembly for cleaning at least.

Good Information here:

Nice video at the bottom of the link.

Nice !!!!!
It only gets better with time and use. Once the blue starts to fade and you put some personality marks on it, don’t be surprised if it’s first choice over other knives you have. You may even find yourself carrying two knives so you don’t neglect the rest of them.

Congrats! About six months ago, I gave in to the hype and bought a large Inkosi/Insingo for my first Reeve. I'd never handled any CR knife until it arrived and was half expecting to be disappointed. But I wasn't disappointed but shocked with how good it is. There's something special about it that's hard for me to describe. It's not hype!

Welcome to the club brotha and enjoy the process, I spent a lot of money before getting to the point large inkosi with inlays and sebenza small only,

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It's definitely starting to break in. Much easier and smoother to open now, but still a couple rough spots on the close.
Got around to sharpening it and got rid of the convex edge. Went down to around 16-17dps, using my Spyderco CBN 400/800 grit plate, then stropped a couple passes each side with diamond paste 8, 3, 1 micron. Excellent slicer now. Might try a polished edge next time it needs a sharpen.

Nice job! Clean, straight and even. As someone who has spent an unhealthy amount of time staring at Sebenzas, I think your angle is more like 18 to 19 dps, not that it makes a difference. Should cut like Hannibal Lecter on a dinner date.

Yeah you're probably right. I was just eyeballing it since I freehand and it felt that low 😂
