As a long-time lurker (and Fiddleback Forge fan), I have finally taken the plunge with this;

was-bigpalmer 1.jpg

Blade Steel: A2, standard full tang, blade thickness of 3/32"

Unfortunately, it'll be a while before I am back Stateside to actually get my hands on it so I'll gladly hear anyone who wants to tell me what a great choice I just made ;)

Very excited.

Thanks all...

Ben

Ben,
welcome to the family! nice choice! Let me know if you have any questions and post some user pics when you have a chance.

Hey Ben,
Welcome and congrats! Too bad about the wait though. Excellent choice!!

The Big Palmer is really a 3 1/2 finger knife for me but is probably the most comfortable handle and my most often/consistently carried knife since I got it about 7 weeks ago. I've been picking up Fiddlebacks, WA Surls and Osprey K&T since maybe February this year and had always cycled out EDCs every few days .. until I got to the Big Palmer. I'll go through my inventory to think about swapping it out for something else but end up sticking with the Big Palmer. If I know there will be opportunity for needing a bigger kitchen-type slicer, then I'll lean towards the FF Ladyfinger or OKT Hunter (or take them along as an extra).

Two good options for a sheath are Bud's Joufuu ISP (Inside the Pocket) for a Hiking Buddy or his Ambidextrous sheath for a Hiking Buddy. I picked up a pile of various ISPs and Ambi sheaths and found myself sticking more with the Ambi belt sheath. It works well either as a vertical between 3-4 o'clock or as a horizontal appendix.

Below are some pictures of the sheath and another for size / model comparison.

Thanks,
Jerry

Thanks Guys,

Very pleased to have pulled the trigger. Great vibe at this end of the forums...

Have a great weekend both!

Okay Dammit - I've got issues! There, I admit it...

...I just love some of these knives. Couldn't resist this one;

Especially after my previous comments on the 'W.A. Surls Wednesday 07/06/2016' thread -

"I love this pattern and the relatively thin blade. A tapered tang version of this in natural colours has me drooling!!! Amazing work..."

Thanks Allen, both for kicking my bank account in the ass and for letting us get our hands on some really great work!
