I finally did it. After almost ten years of looking at pictures and reading the numerous posts extolling the virtues of Chris' wonder-knife, I am now the proud owner of a large regular Sebenza.

I wasn't planning on getting this knife. I've gotten into shooting recently, so most of my disposable income has been going to saving up for guns and ammo. But a couple of months ago I visited this subforum and read the disturbing news that CRK was discontinuing the regular line of Sebenzas. This announcement threw me for a loop as I had always wanted a large regular Sebbie. I know that many people prefer the classic, but the very first Sebenza I ever saw was a regular and that image is what I think of when I picture Chris' masterpiece. This development forced my hand, and I quickly placed an order with Heather for a large regular with double thumbstuds. I did it in the nick of time too, as my order was made on May 2nd, the deadline for ordering regular Sebbies. Maybe I need to get a life, but I think that it's a bit cool that I own one of the very last regular Sebenzas ever made.

The knife arrived yesterday. As I opened it I was shaking a little in anticipation of the treasure that lay within. Here in my hands was the knife that I'd been eyeing for all these years. It was a bit anticlimactic really because when I opened the UPS box, I was greeted not by my new favorite blade, but rather by the CRK white cardboard box. I quickly tore that one open and inside was my prize, my very own Sebenza.

At first I was struck by its utilitarian appearance. The Sebenza is not an unattractive knife, but it does look a bit plain. I expected this though, so its workmanlike appearance didn't bother me in the slightest. As I held the knife and turned it in my hands, the Seb's quality construction started to reveal itself. The Sebenza, while simple in appearance, is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The handles are expertly beveled and perfectly matched to one another. The blade itself is simply marvelous. Its deep hollow grinds seem to have the same height and depth on each side. It is also perfectly centered. The blade spine is nicely rounded and while I don’t yet see its usefulness, I have to admit that it is a nice touch. The knife itself is the sharpest I’ve ever received with no burrs whatsoever along its length.

The knife locks up halfway the width of the tang. It locks up with authority and feels as solid as my Microtech LCC. The Seb feels good in my hands although I have yet to use it. It carries well too. Despite its size, I don’t even notice it when clipped to my pocket. The Seb’s flat design makes this knife a very unobtrusive one.

That’s it for now. Suffice it to say, this knife has met my expectations and I look forward to carrying and using it.

Congratulations on getting your very own Sebbie!!!! I am happy and excited for you!

Congratulations, you chose the best folding knife CRK makes. Enjoy.

The small isn't bad either, but I use the large more, it's big without being bulky. The small makes for a great gent's knife, though.

You done good. Ordered just in time, double thumbstuds, AND a large regular!:thumbup:

Congrats on your purchase. I EDC a small and feel its one of the best made knives that I own. Let us know when you get your second, third etc.

Congrats on your new knife. I think it is a good idea to grab them while they are still out there.
