Many people have asked me whiuch is better Waxes or Jonas' sheath.. all I can say is that they both have their ups and downs advantages and shortcom, inogs but te final decision is up to you. Right now I am carrying Jonas' sheath cause I am still not tired of playing with it.. it is so fun!!

Awesome!

I want one! Is this the same WOW-BM42-SHEATH I pre-ordered from 1SKS? Is it made specifically for a 42? Do other knives, with possibly different spacing between handle holes, work with it also?

I'll have a franken bali pic for you soon snipe. Its a Cudeman with the chrome taken off, the spearpoint/recurve blade with both edges sharpened, and maple inserts. Maple is hard *@$! to work with! I just finished shaping the inserts and I'm waiting for the stain to dry. Tomorrow I'll put on a clear coat of Varathane. The cheap pot metal handles look kinda dull with the chrome taken off but I think it'll accentuate the inserts.

Any other ideas on how I could mod this thing?

wassap DOgg. No this sheath is not the same thing you ordered from 1sks. I have not been asked by Mike Turber to review his sheaths.. Both Matt and Jonas are independent custom makers who do this type of thing on the side. Being custom made it has to be catered to the specific knife in question. (in my case my BM45) JOnas used HIS BM45 and it fits mine fine. Remeber that the BM42 is longer and thicker... a BM 42 will not fit in a sheath designed for a BM45.

If I am not mistaken 1sks is making kydex sheaths that does not auto pop and can only accept balisongs in the punyo in config. I get th eimpression that 1sks is also making sheaths in the Microtech design. That is it is a CUP design and not a RING or STRAP design. Jonas did this approach in his first design and it didn't wok out cause it always poked out of my side.. but ir works for MT so I willhave to see how it turns out.

I will be looking forward to your franken bali sir.

I need to update that page somehow, and I hae been to lazy to make a new franken myself. Are you gonna grind the second edge too or sharpen it as is?

Snyggt Jonas! Looks like a really nice sheath. And sniperboy, you have designing in your blood... speaking of blood: I'm afraid I'm about to prove sniperboy's theory, that every new knife cuts someone badly, to be true. I received four new knives today (two balis and two folders). I was about to cut a rag from a piece of cloth to use when lubricating the CRKT Pointguard, when *GUSH* - and I had hardly even touched the blade - I had slit my thumb open in four places (combo edge) and was bleeding badly. Only three knives to go (and two more shippments coming in)... Sorry for deviating from the topic - I'm a bit giddy (probably from blood-loss
wink.gif
).

So, this sheath, Jonas, is not to reccomend for the 42A, right? since it will (like most sheaths I guess, wear heavily on the anodization? I have to get a plain 42 soon...

Cheers,

Per

Hey LockStock
smile.gif
than kyou for your compliments on my page.. I love designing stuff wish I actually studied it in colege
tongue.gif
but yeah I do not thitn kthis sheath shoudl be used for a BM42A.. and matt's sheath must DEFINITELY not be used for a 42A. Kydex scratches up balis pretty badly.

and rememebr apply direct pressure and lift up on top of the head.. and when somone says to you "wana see my new knife?" make sure you be careful cause it may have nt asted blood yet
wink.gif

oh yes Mr. Golnick, with the neosporin if you please

Great review sniper! It's a very tough choice. Both sheaths have very thought out designs. I'm so glad that people are taking the time and energy in making a better sheath...and reviewing them for us. A functional and comfortable sheath means that you will never second doubt carrying that knife on ya. A good sheath definitely enhances the play factor as well.
