When Brian Jones, Moderator of the Wilderness and Survival Forum here at BladeForums, gave us the heads up that he was going on an adventure this June where he would be called on to bag some small game with his Hawk, ATC stepped up to the plate and offered its services in the form of a small tutorial.

Brian brought some great instinctive ability to the target, with an already developed run and throw technique which will be devastating in the field. All we did was offer a few tips on tossing the big steel at the kind of critters that make their way on the earth, low to the ground.

This called for some work on hitting the target with the Spike End of the Ranger Hawk, and an even more effective technique, the LaGana Side Arm Throw. This technique made Peter LaGana famous in Western PA as he bagged numerous ground hogs and other small game with this method.

AND...an ATC tutorial could not be complete without our favorite instructor faithfully available to assist...none other than the lovely HawkChucker!!!!

First, here's Brian in action with a single spin overhand throw with his Ranger Spike Hawk!

....the result of Brian's handiwork after establishing that critical single spin distance! As they say in retail, "...location, location, location!"

Yours truly executing the LaGana SideArm!!! Note the Hawk in flight! This throw is a little more difficult to pull off accurately, as it requires more force and wrist action to pinwheel the Hawk horizontally than vertically, but when it hits, it hits like a TRUCK!

HawkChucker performs a single spin with the famous Vietnam Tomahawk!!! The white arrow marks the Hawk in flight!

Doesn't she make it look easy? Give this woman something hard to do!

HawkChucker likes to make her guests feel right at home! You should see her when she's angry!!!

Andy,

Thank you so much for the warm reception in NJ! I thoroughly enjoyed myself -- and learned a great deal. Your instruction in hawk throwing was top-grade.

Everyone, if you are looking for a true professional, and a true human being in this industry, look no further than Andy Prisco. There are givers and takers in this world, and Andy is certainly a giver. We threw hawks, had a barbecue, and threw more hawks. We were giggling like kids it was so fun. He showed me the prototype of the Vietnam Hawk, and many other custom pieces.

I had a great time hanging out with Andy, his wife, and the beautiful Hawkchucker!

ATC is company that offers REAL tools from REAL people. What more could any of us ask?

Thanks again, Andy, Amy, and Hawkchucker!

To use the word 'fun' to describe our hawk throwing session would be an understatement. It was absolutely 'out-of-control' GREAT!

Thanks so much for the great time Andy, Amy J. and Brian! It was great to meet you Brian! You'll have to fill us all in on your hawk experiences when you return from your trip! And Andy, you're the best instructor around!

Thanks, HC!

It was great to meet you, too! We'll have to all do some follow up hawking when I get back.

Best,

Brian.

Wow!

I had no idea how multi-purpose tomahawks really are. Self defense tactics vs. meringue pie, will the uses never cease?
