Does anyone have a Joseph Rodgers british army knife? I'm mostly interested in the single bladed one.

How are they when it comes to F&F, blade steel and usability?

They're a good solid design. F & F varies, not bad in my experience, but don't expect anything like GEC quality. The stainless takes a bit of work to get sharp I think, but it will sharpen. They're a reasonably inexpensive knife, and not bad value for the price in my opinion. You might be able to pick up a secondhand one, and if the stainless isn't an important factor, you might want to pick up a older carbon steel model (made by a large number of Sheffield cutlers). Check out the Military Clasp Knife thread if you're interested.

I didn't know there were any in carbon steel. I haven't seen any for sale here, but I haven't looked for one before.

Could you point me in the right direction for ine with a carbon steel blade?

I don't think they're made anymore, but you might be able to pick up an older model or one of the Belgian models. Lots of info in the clasp knife thread

Edit: Actually, Slater Brothers might still do one in carbon.
