I thought I'd do a mini review of this hunk of steel, as I was gifted it and it's a current issue knife (limited issue, not part of an initial kit issue).

The knife type has been around for ages, in various guises, having its background in the very well made and finished Wilkinson Sword 'Type D' survival knife.
The variations have primarily been in the handle and sheath material, shifting from wood to synthetic, and in blade finish, from uncoated through phosphated to blued/PVD.

The knife I have is dated 2022, has a 7" long, 6mm thick blade with a full tang and shallow drop point. There is a low, flat sabre grind that is 14-15mm deep from edge to face. The blade is 40-42mm deep from spine to edge. There is no choil.
The guard is prominently soldered on, the synthetic handle slabs are crudely riveted onto the tang and it has a lanyard hole through the slabs and tang.
The sheath is now synthetic leather, stitched and riveted, with a sloppy fitting snap closed retainer band. The belt lopp will accommodate up to a 4" wide belt. There is no leg loop fitting and no drain hole.
The knife weighs about 18oz with the balance point falling about 3mm ahead of the guard.

All in all, a crude knife that will withstand heavy abuse and be easy to sharpen, but will be uncomfortable to use for a prolonged period.

The original Wilkinson Sword Type D knives, which had far better fit and finish.

Knife looks to be sturdy . Hope it was cheap . Pleather sheath would not be my choice for any knife .

Fortunately I did not spend a penny on this, it was given to me by a well meaning friend who knows I like knives.
It is indeed sturdy, and will probably survive most abuse that it is subjected to.

That truly looks like it was made by the lowest military bidder lol
But at least it would be grunt proof!

Here is a thread on some cool mods for this knife pattern-
