I was browsing through my favorite knife dealer and the emerson journeyman caught my eye. I never see people discussing this knife, are there any owners out there. I would be interested in hearing thoughts on this knife. Thanks.

I regularly EDC 3 different Emersons... Iron Dragon, Journeyman, and a CQC-13. The Journeyman is definitely one of my favorites and has seen nearly 2 years of straight EDC. The blade shape is very versatile and easy to sharpen since it lacks a recurve. I actually have a back up in the safe in case I ever lose this one. BTW they are discontinued so they might not be around much longer.

/\ that is an awesome example of a jman... I have one, its one that i dont carry alot but i seem to fondle the most. Has a feel of its own...great ergos and has a unique hydraulic feel when opening and a pretty mean what i can only describe as a "thwack" When fully deployed. Size is large but feels a little smaller than a standard roadie, however side by side the jman is the same lenght. If your into emersons i personally think its a must have. I am thinking of getting another one down the road if available so I can mod the one I have further.. They are great stock dont get me wrong I personally have the "rayster bug".. So far I made a 38 thumb disc and polished the edge of my jman.

It's a very good overall jack of all trades knife. I have had two of them and would recommend you try one out considering they are no longer made and getting harder to find. It is probably the most timid looking of all the EKI models I have owned, but still a great tool or weapon. It is also by no means a "small" pocket knife.

I'll be the third person here that says they have 2 of these. Seems that people who like them really like them. I carried one pretty regularly for a while and have nothing bad to say about it. I've since moved on to other designs but still thing the Journeyman is a great design that is a lot less threatening looking than most Emersons but still rather large and very capable.

It was my first Emerson. It's definitely a great all around folder, but I'm not a big fan of drop points so I traded it off. Emerson has more models that appeal to me.

I didn't realize it was discontinued. The basic and timid design to me has a real work knife look. Knifecenter still has a few in stock. If one is there after the holidays i have to snatch it up. Thanks to all for the info. (Side note) I'm lovin my horseman. It is my favorite knife/ brand. I am at the point that there a several emerson on my list and nothing else. Journeyman cqc8 commander roadhouse to name a few.

I have one and I really like it but I don't carry it because I think it is such a sleek design. I think this is a better design than the gentleman Jim. It is a perfect size and grip for EDC but honestly I just prefer the Super Commander for EDC because it is so easy to cut through anything.
