The chopping gods smiled on me and dropped a great big Elm limb into one of our Maple trees yesterday.
Starts out by the neighbor coming over and saying, "Did you hear the tree fall in your back yard." I say No and go take a look.
Nice, from this side the break is about 8' off the ground.
The other side of the break only about 5'.
The top of the tree was hung up in a Maple about 20' up.
The base is down, "chainsaw" and the CGFBM got to do some limbing, always fun.
Last shot looking down from the deck at the brush pile.
I had to cut the limb in 3 large sections and then break out the pole saw in a attempt to get the widow maker out of the Maple tree, didn't work to well.
So I chainsawed off a bit more and muscled it down using my patented Tarzan method. It's a hold my beer move but it works every time.
So after it's all down and I have my usual
from chopping with reckless abandonment, I get a call from Kirk my canoeing buddy. He tells me they sold the house and he can't go to the BWCA next week. Talk about going from a high to a low.
I guess the gods are still smiling on me though because I found a eager replacement and the trip is still a on, just won't be as hardcore but it's a go.
Well its back to chainsaw duty and wood stacking for me.
Have a good one.
