JP has a few beauties for sale!

Anyone have any idea what 'H' is?
Looks like a little kothimora to me, but I can barely pass the vision test for a driver's license. Drop John an email, and I'm sure he can send better pics and more info.

Great stuff.

It's gotta really hurt to let them go.

I know it hurts to have to try and stand by to let others buy them. Being poor sux.

U know, John's khuks may have quite a bit of appreciation potential when his book is published (or when another definative book on khukuris is). That's because a well researched published source of information tends to trigger interest among new but serious antique collectors (I'm sure this has already happened for other antique knives/swords) AND John's khuks will have a "provenance" or history of ownership with one of the world's khukuri experts.

The same thing happened in 2001 with small bronze figures from the Khmer civilization in southeast Asia. A book was published and prices shot up when the world's collectors had a source of dependable published information.

I remember a distant uncle of mine who was a well known artist. He had kidney problems and need funds for treatment so he sold some of his paintings from his own private collection to family and relatives. Someone published a book on his work 10 years later and prices for those paintings rose by over 10 times.

This is not to say that John's khuks are guaranteed to rise in price. But its nice knowing that in addition to caring for a piece of history, you might have future story about "how I got this amazing antique back when . . . ".

By the way, to establish provenance buyers might want to keep a copy of their emails to John and a copy of John's picture of the khuk. Who knows, maybe a picture of the khuk might be in a future book (in which case, one would really have a story to tell!)?

I did my part; I wonder how many are left. John has some really nice examples here.
