New toy in the mail :D, receiving a new sharpener is almost as good as getting a new knife. Haven't had the chance to use it yet so here's just a quick look. Appears to be well made and has a nice smooth action on the gripping claws, its smaller than I thought but still large enough to do the job. Comes with a nice selection of sandpaper, I'll add some more info after I try it out.

I put it to some use last night after buying a nice little vise at HF. The first thing I noticed was the backing, its only about 3/16 thick and has a higher density than a mouse pad. Its not a problem its just I have been using a thick/soft mouse pad so it took a little adjusting to get use to. The abrasive pack that came with it was loaded with all the grits you need to do everything from reprofiling to touch-ups, the 1000 and 1500 grit paper was gator grit brand and seemed to perform well. The peice of leather that came with it is very nice but is dry and stiff making it hard to get it flat to the sharpening block, still works fine though. The locking jaws work well and hold the paper nice and tight, they are also smooth in their action and open far enough to not make it difficult when installing the paper and leather. The sandpaper is wider than the block but the directions say (I know I read the directions:eek:) its so you have more sharpening surface to work with.

Overall a very nice well made product, Siguy, I think you would really like this one. Here's a pic of it in the $10 HF vise.
