Will their custom Fallkniven S1 fit my S1? It's a blade blank that I'm going to put slabs on. I'm just not sure if their sheath was designed for the thermorum handle or if it doesn't matter. Just want to make sure before I purchase it. Thanks.
There's a few factors you have to take into consideration with fitting a knife to a production sheath:
****What was the sheath designed for? If it has an around the handle strap then your going to have to make sure the slabs you make stay within the tolerances of the stock handles. Now, there are three handle types for that knife, thermorun, wood, and micarta/g10. As long as the sheath has enough room for any of these then you can get an idea of what you are to make.
****The pouch sheaths they offer are more forgiving of handle size, but only so far will leather stretch.
****I didnt see an offering for an over the guard strap knife, but the tolerances are a bit more forgiving than the around the handle, but less forgiving than the pouch.
I'd suggest getting your favored sheath, then measuring how far you have then making the handles.
Yes, its been done before, I've made quite a few sheaths for knives without handles, then the handles were made to fit. Its not out of the realm of possibility.
