JSP for Christmas

Here’s a neat little stocking-stuffer that Santa (me) provided this Christmas.

It’s a new model from JSP Custom Division named the Poctan, with black bubble abstract Rigger Coat. It’s a carbon steel, the type escapes me at the moment, all of 5 1/4” OAL with a 2 3/8” blade length.

This is a highly-detailed grind for such a small pocketable blade. I struggled to do this knife justice with the pictures to convey the details. The user-interface end of the knife is all rounded and friendly. The finger cut is rounded and polished; the spine of the blade has a roundedness at the top of it’s bevel that winds up into the reinforced tip. The double flat ground blade edge is all business.

I love custom folders for defensive carry, but this knife, for me, is whole ‘nuther level of fast deployment from a pocket, static cord and all. This looks to be one ferocious partner for close quarters, whether that subject be a BG or a cardboard box!

I have never bought a knife sight-unseen. Mr. Piorek, in his inimitable easy descriptive style, painted a visual image that made me remove my wallet on the spot. The actual knife corresponded with that image. Good salesman, that Mr. Piorek! And an exceptional talent in the knife-making realm.

I like it Boink! I am starting to get a hankering for small fixed blades. The handle looks like it will be very comfortable to grip. Does it also feel firm enough so that the blade tang will not twist within the handle? Again I like it! Santa was good to you.:D :)

Thanks, Art. The handle material is stuck well to the tang, so if something moves, they move together.

btw - Just read Goloks' neat thread on staying here and Parcaelus posted that it's not with Bladeforum's blessings to put up pictures of custom knives in this area. Sorry for this indiscretion; I was unaware. Moderators, if this thread needs to be moved or locked, then by all means.

remindes me alot of the double ground kevin robinson "lil striker"
found at Bladeart. meeee likes alot :-)
loandr.

Boink:

Price on that baby from Jim?

I have had one of his bamboo kwaikens [no lomger in the lineup ] for 10 years now. Don't carry it much but when I bring it out or wear it at the classes everyone thinks it is the cats meow.
One or two of the students has stated it is the nicest knife I have in the collection. I ordered it with the static cord sheath as well as the shoulder rig at the same time.

BTW--Jim uses A-2 mostly for his products and continues to do so as far as I know. He does know how to grind a knife. Mine is tanto configged and very user friendly. This was before the riggercoat was developed.

Mine is japanese silk wrapped and sealed for the handle.

You can't go wrong with bladerigger products. Congrats on the new addition to the family.

I couldn't agree with you more! I got TWO Bladeriggier pieces in April (well, three if you count the shoulder harness on my Lightfoot axe :) )

Hi brownie,

I don't know if we can talk about that here...but I can say that the Karambit is a TAD exclusive so you can visit www.tadgear.com if you need further info :)

I did not know this thread was resurrected; sorry about not responding Brownie.

This little knife went for around $425.00 new. It's no longer mine - it went to a forum member. I dug it for the time that I had it.

Nice to see your new wares, RL.

Thanks...here are my Bladerigger rigs :)
