Yeah I know it seams like we just built a shop but once you see the pictures of where we are going you will understand.
So Saturday we started excavation on the pad for the new shop on our new property. Well I did not excavate I mowed and trimmed trees.
Here it is before anything major, just getting the tall grass knocked down so we could strip the top layer off.
We cleaned up the drainage ditch along our road and dropped a section of 10.5” ID steel pipe in. I don’t know if you have ever priced out gutter pipe but 60 feet of plastic gutter was going to cost my over a thousand bucks. 60ft of this steel pipe was $400 delivered.
Culvert is in and we start getting after the dirt. We took some shots and had to cut into the bank about 3ft to get a level pad across the width I wanted.
Making our way from one end to the other.
Took all day.
But it’s starting to come around. Seamed like all I did was walk around with the transit stick and mark the high spots with paint, oh and mowing.
Here she is all graded down. We still need to figure out a few things but that will be when we get up there again to dig the foundation and set up the forums. I’m planning on heading up there with a plate compactor as we had to move fill on the sloped side as we could not make the approach work with that deep of a cut into the bank. But the foundation is going on solid undisturbed ground.
I was able to get the surrounding area mowed and some trees trimmed up.
But not half bad and the view is to die for. Almost 7 acres and 5miles off the main highway. You can sit up there for hours and not here anything besides the wind and birds. Yeah I could get use to this. Expect your heat treated knives to be returned in a much higher zen state then before.
Here is a picture of the view from where we are thinking of putting the house. Taken at a different day when we where up for a picnic l.
It’s a further drive from work then now but it’s well worth it. Plus the power company said thy will drop me 600amps at the shop. We are not doing a pole building this time. We decided to do a full steel building fully insulated on a 6” slab. 10ft wide door that’s 12ft tall. I’m excited to start but really wish it was already done.
