So due to my new job I can't carry my Charge TTi on my belt like I've become so accustomed to, and there is no way I can comfortably pocket carry the TTi with the myriad of other :foot: already in my pockets. It's been a little over month now going to work everyday without a Leatherman, and to be honest, even though I still have my knife and light everyday I feel just about naked without a good MT on me.

And so I searched, researched, comprehended, shopped for deals, watched videos, etc. etc. and decided on the Juice line as I have had fantastic results from Leatherman products, not to mention the size and available tools were exactly what I was looking for.

But which one to get? Well I'm not very good at compromise so I ordered the chunky little XE6 in grey. It should arrive tomorrow. Anyway enough BS. Anybody have any experience with these tools they'd like to share?

If your new job is such that you can't carry a MT on a belt, then it's highly unlikely that you'll have a need that the XE6 won't be able to handle. I have a S2 and a KF4 that I use around the house quite a bit. They are very capable tools that are easy to carry. If I were changing a transmission or adding a room to the house, I'd grab something more substantial. The Juice line can handle most things, though.

If your job permits a pocket clip, the Nite Ize Eclipse would make your XE6 even easier to carry.

Juices are great, I have the CS4 and it is almost a perfect EDC MT. You should be aces with your XE6.

i too have the juice CS4. good size for EDC IMO. i think you will be pleased with your XE6.

my XE6 is a little big to carry in pocket, but with the sheath and on a belt it's not bad. The leatherman sheath is a substantial clip, so you don't actually need a belt to use it. But for me, too heavy for a pocket. Also the inner tools on it were on the stiff side to be able to get out. After some wear and oil though, they work fine. All and all, I should have gotten a smaller model for my needs, ah well. All the bells and whistles have already proven useful, so w/e :)

May I ask why you cant carry the charge with your job?? I'm just curious

New job is at McD's, and theres so many people occupying such a small area constantly trying to squeeze by you and rush around that something hanging off my belt would almost certainly snag on any passing people, or a fryer, or table, etc etc. Also they have a no cell phone policy for the crew and I don't feel like explaining that the sheath on my belt is for a tool, not a phone. Anyway I think discrete pocket carry is most certainly the way to go with the current situation I'm in, which the TTi is just too big for.

Thanks for everyones opinions and thoughts. Unfortunately the mail lady hasn't delivered anything today, I suspect someone left my dog outside when she arrived and she wont deliver when the dog is out as she thinks my dog is "mean" and "scary"

why would you need a multi tool at a fast food joint?

To make it faster.. Obviously.. Seriously though, I doubt most of us really NEED to carry half the crap we do.. It's just fun for the most part, and it never hurts to be prepared.. :)

.Atlas -
I probably don't need my brain as well for working at McDs but I don't go leaving that at home do I? :D It just comes down to the fact that I'm accustomed to having a MT on me all the time, whether I need it right that second or not. The fact that I'm a gear whore doesn't help either

haha. yeah.. i just re-read my post, it did come off kind of ass hole-ish. those are perfectly good reasons to carry a MT, and i know the feeling of not being able to carry the things your accustomed too.

hmm...i guess we have different views on what and why you carry. if i don't use it, it isnt going with me.

Have the XE6 - great tool, kind of bulky. Has more tools than most full-sized leathermans, and you don't get weird looks when you use it in front of people. For pocket carry, it hangs from a caribineer/chain from my belt loop into my back right pocket, next to my wallet. Actually, if you still want to carry your Charge, I used to carry it the same way in my back pocket. FYI - the Juice XE6 is actually just as thick as the Charge, so basically they're the same pocket-carry-comfort-wise. Stopped carrying my Charge because I missed having an Awl, which the XE6 has. Plus the XE6 has a ONE HAND OPENING BOTTLE OPENER!!! Genius!

Also, you may want to use the Pocket Clip that came with the Charge if you can't wear it on your belt at work.

Ya the Charge is indeed a great tool but it doesn't compare favorably to my EDC folder clipped to my pocket (Benchmade Mini Bone Collector) it's heavy, awkward, and the shiny stainless clip is waaaay too easily noticeable on my black work pants, albeit that's not a total deal breaker, but I don't like advertising that there's a knife in my pocket quite that conspicuously. Also even with the XE6 and BM in the same pocket I still feel like there's more real estate in there than when it's just the TTi clipped to my pocket even though the XE6 is thicker than the TTi it doesn't bother me at all since it rides in the bottom of my pocket nicely and doesn't get in the way at all of my keys, lighter, etc. that it shares a pocket with.

To comment on the XE6 itself I'm fairly happy with it although it isn't without it's issues. The pinning on the scissors is pretty sloppy and there's quite a bit of play in them, the awl wasn't even close to sharp, and needed to be sharpened, no big deal as it's awl-right now. There's a fair bit of horizontal play in the serrated blade, and the plain edge was one huge burr with a nice small chip out of it where the blade hit the backspring somewhere along the line, of course that was easy to fix and it's hair popping sharp now and the chip has been sharpened out. All in all it's a Leatherman, and my experience with Leathermans is that they just get better with time so I look forward to breaking it in and getting some good use out of it.
