Be you a Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine,
Police Officer, EMT or Fireman,
Teacher, Coach, or Student,
Manufacturer, Distributor, Dealer or Buyer,
Native Born, Immigrant, or Naturalized Citizen;

Thank you for doing your part to make America the greatest nation in the world. Remember that the community starts with you, and no matter how small it is, if you do one thing each day to make it better, you will have an impact.

Donate blood. Pick up a piece of garbage. Be a mentor. Help a charity. Anything you can do, should be done.

For those who serve and are away from home defending freedom, you have our eternal thanks. Your vigilance gives us our security, your blood pays for our freedom, let us never forget the sacrifices made so that we may enjoy our way of life.

Kevin

Amen. We should all take some time today to reflect and give thanks for the great fortune we have to be in this wonderful country. Even the least priviledged of us live at a level that is unheard of in most other parts of the world. God Bless America.

INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE

On the fourth of July, we Americans celebrate our nation, our history, and our freedom. We fill the night skies with fireworks, have picnics and barbeques, and march in parades down the main streets of hometowns in every state. Yes, we have fun, but Americans must never forget the price of the freedom that we enjoy.

When the 13 colonies declared their independence in 1776, Americans were already fighting and dying to secure our freedom, preserving that freedom has taken determination, teamwork, wisdom, and sacrifice. You, and those who have worn the uniform of our country before you, have heard the call to duty and have answered it. You have made the personal sacrifices freedom demands.

There are people who envy our way of life, democracy, and the freedom that we enjoy. Because of them being envious, they dislike us. They demonstrated this hate with the cowardly acts on September 11, 2001, which is the reason why we are here at Guantanamo Bay. Our mission is to prevent a reoccurrence of that dreadful day. Your work here is on the forefront of our fight to live a life of liberty and happiness.

Today, many nations struggle toward democracy. To help them, American service men and women, representing both military and various governmental agencies, have deployed all over the world, providing food and protection, and carrying out missions of mercy. We wish for all oppressed peoples what we have achieved for ourselves: the blessings of liberty under democratic government.

You are the ultimate protectors of the freedom we cherish so dearly. It is you, beyond the fireworks, the picnics, and the parades, who guard the frontiers of freedom. You have helped bring democracy and hope to millions of people around the world.

This was the message we received from our Commander, a 2 star General.

Says it all, doesn't it??

Amen! Being one of those who has spent his life in the service of our country, I identify with the struggles and trials our nation has gone through. Following is a message I posted on my own fourm this morning.....

Once again we come together to celebrate the birth of our nation. Since her last birthday, we have been shaken to the foundations by the dreadful events of last fall. However, we are still standing. A recent news story comes to mind............. concerning The Pledge of Allegence being withdrawn from schools becasue the the phrase..."Under God", and someone who felt that such a phrase was demeaning to him!
God was the founding principal of the people who created this fine nation. Over the years since her birth, many men, and women, have fought and died to preserve that freedom. Today we honor those who fought and died, those who struggled, and those who kept our nation free. It is a fact that freedom comes at a cost.......and many have forgotten that. Freedom comes with a moral obligation...........and MANY have forgotten that. Freedom is not an open ticket to do whatever one whats...................... Freedom is a responsibility that must be taken seriously, upheld to the standards that our forefathers intended, and those standards and morals passed to our children, so that our Great Nation may always be free.

"I pledge allegence to the flag, of the United States of America."
"And to the Republic for which it stands."
"ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISABLE, WITH LIBERTY, AND JUSTICE FOR ALL."

God bless and keep us, and may we all remember why we fought to be a free Nation.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!

Happy Independence Day America!!

To all the men and women in uniform, thank you for ensuring freedom and democracy in the free world. All Canadians know that you not not only safeguard America but also keep a watchful eye over our great nation to the north. We are forever grateful.

From your Canadian brothers,

TornAdo

Bravo, Spark, you've got it exactly right. There's no freedom without responsability. Thanks to all who have paid, and are paying, the price.

Thanks for the sentiment, Kevin.:). I'd piss on anyone who tries to harm our Country or its' people. We ARE the BEST!

While not without it's problems, the USA is still the best country in the world. The freedoms we enjoy were fought for and won by the countless men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

I'm damn proud of my son. He's a Gunner's Mate in the US Navy (thankfully home on liberty for the holiday). Without people like him, we wouldn't have the freedoms we enjoy today.

I was born a poor kid and grew up on welfare, but today I own my own home and make a good living because I've worked hard all my life. That rise from poverty to prosperity could only have happened here.

Every day we must continue to fight for these great fredoms we enjoy, wheather it is on the battle field or in the voting booth.

I'm also proud of the fact that whenever I slip with one of these sharp pointy things we seem to be so obsessed with, I bleed Red, White and Blue!

Never forget!

Spark, and ESPECIALLY tobii:

I have chills running the length of my body. Such beautiful words.

This Independence day should mean more to us than ones in the past.

We are so lucky to live in such a safe, free place, and we owe our EVERYTHING to Police Officers, Military, and the like.

I'm just speechless...

Have a wonderful Fourth of July

Drjones

Thanks. I appreciate that.

I spent a decade complaining about my aches and pains, and how the VA couldn't fix em.

Now every time I ache, I feel a bit of pride. damn sight better use of emotions for this old vet.

WELL SAID SPARK!!!! We all have to try and remember to do our own little part daily to make our world a better place. Too many lives have been given for this cause for us to ever forget.

To all of my "Brothers In Arms" (past and present): THANKS for being there! Stay Safe! :)
