As usual, this is the place for your discussions, flamewars, bragging about how hard the challenge is, and so forth.

First question, I have a little problem. Real, 7-strand, MilSpec 550 paracord can only be bought by the meter here, and one meter (~3ft) costs $1,23. Do I HAVE to buy that stuff, or can I use the sisal cordage that I use and carry like paracord? Can I buy cheap knock-off paracord, or does it have to be the genuine MilSpec stuff?

Moose said: "but it must be made from natural materials"

so I guess paracord doesn't count as natural.
Sisal is natural.........where'd you get your hands on that? I know they use it to make carpets! Kinda like hessian.

Sisal is fine, Meat. We may do a natural cordage challenge someday, but it ain't today. Whatever cordage you carry is fine.

It's all I use in the field, it's a traditional german scout thing. It's about as thick as paracord, holds about 600 pounds, and it's natural and will deteriorate if left outside in 3-5 years. It costs me $15 for a roll of 1000ft.

I hope i didn't get that wrong, but I think Moose's post said paracord is okay, since most of us carry paracord at any given time.

ETA: thanks moose! Now I just need to get permission to cut down about 15 12ft long pine poles, 3" thick. I gots big plans :D

Good price on that sisal cord. Basically, the idea behind using a syth cordage, is, we should all carry enough to do what we need to with, and it gives you an idea on how much you might need to carry, to do a particular job.

It's not like I'll use my carry-on cordage to build sophisticated camp furniture in a survival situation. But then again, I won't be able to get into a survival situation here in Germany, even if I tried :D

Great challenge, this one's gonna be fun.

You guys need to get familiar with Bankline, aka Tarred Twisted Nylon. Waaay more useful than paracord, unless we're talking bracelets and knife handles. Grips and holds knots better too. I got a link if you are interested. I use the 160-250lb stuff, but have used up to the 600lb stuff. Will make building furniture easier.

+1 on the bank line. Wally has it, by the way.

Sweet, I thought we couldn't use any paracord or nylon cordage.

I hope that I get the time to make what I want to. It's gonna be cool.

I promise, only dead, broken-off or dying trees this time. Although I have my BK-2 now... might ward them off a bit better.

No complaints here. I found it hilarious in the walking stick video when someone yells something in German, Maethers brow furrows as he looks in their direction, he looks back at the camera and says "somebody just yelled murderer." It was classic, i L'dMAO.

Would this count if I called it my bed? :D

Moose,
If I complete Ethans challenge, and take a ton of cool pics, will I get my desired BH#??? I want in.
I will have 2 guys( counting me), both beating on BK2's on this coming weekends campout.

Dude, you probably qualify already. There is one BeckerHead who did a giveaway of a BK11 to get His special out of sequence #. Moose can totally be purchased. Just sayin. Were all whores here. Knife whore's that is.
