First CRK's to the collection, will add a Wilson Star-Benza for sure. Wow, Great knives. As I said one has the LBS and one does not. Have several knives with LBS's, I will say CRK (while I know the LBS is controversial) does it in the most visually pleasing way of any maker.
The LBS knife is NIB, the nonLBS was a private purchase. I think the dates are visible (sorry for the lousy cell phone pic) I did not think it was appropriate to show the CRK compared with the other LBS knives. The CRK is definately the best looking. For what it is worth, IF I did not have an Umnumzaan and wanted one, I would not hesitate to get one of these because of concern over looks. Now, if you simply have to have a non-LBS well than ya gotta do what makes you happy.
Impressions:
Was pleased with size and sharpness as well as the legendary F&F on the new knife.
Blade and overall looks are simply amazing. The feel of the finish is like no other knife I have felt. IF I was to advise a new collector who just wanted the best 5 or 10 0r 50 knives in his collection but wanted to know what the first ones should be - this would be one of my first recommendations. It is that good.
Ahh, not sure what else to say, yes the lock bar requires some "push power" from the thumb. Guess I had gotten a little softer than I thought.
The Almost new came with the lanyard untied (wish he had taped the pin down or put it in tissue) the pin bouncing around in the box left more marks than any mild use it had been thru. Edge was dull so that was a good entre' to the knife - the S35V sharpens like a laser. Did not re-prophile looks absolutely factory (next to brand new one) and is absolutely just as sharp if not sharper.
I will get the tool because it seems the almost new blade tip is slightly off center compared to NIB, in reading it seems that may be a slight pivot adjustment or tightening.
So, there will DEFINATELY be more CRK's coming. Wow, right there with the best. For those saddened by the addition of the LBS, really fret not. Do Not avoid getting a Umnumzaan because of what you may or may not like about the LBS - it really is well done (be glad there is no center screw).
Other than that - thanks for all the information and after reading it all (almost) ...
Jumping in with both feet.
