Congrats to all the winners!! So my question if, if you sent one e-mail before 9:55 (9:54...) then were all of the e-mails sent moved to back. I started sending at 9:54:57... I sent quite a few in a very rapid time. 20 within 10 sec...I guess i got moved to the back, or even though htey were sent at 9:55 they didn't arrive until a few seconds later which would cost a lose.

Trust me:eek::eek: We got ALL of your e-mails:):)...that was fun:thumbup:and we looked at ALL of them

However you were not the fastest for what prize you were looking to win....

If you read the rules it cleary stated that we go by when WE get them...and even though you sent like a "gazillion" e-mails...

Someone else was faster....that beat your time :):) so I say congratulate them and say Thank You for a free Ganza...

I think that was the key, what mattered is how fast the various ISP email providers got the emails to Busse, then there is always the Internet slow downs along the way so you never really know.

It's down to Milliseconds really. ;)

Then also it depends on the order Busses email provider put them in. :)

It's really a crap shoot, as you never know. :D

As long as you already own a Busse Combat Knife you my friend are a Winner.

I think the question everyone is wondering is whether they got penalized for mass spamming emails, or that's a valid tactic for future ganzaaaaaas. Some of the posts from winning Hogs have led me to believe it's a valid (and successful) tactic, so I might have to modify my approach next time :D

I know what you mean, maybe I need to change mine too...

Firing off an email every 1/8th second starting a few seconds before. ;)

Or maybe just blast like 500 emails. :D

I didn't want to do that, but hey if it worked then maybe I will next time. ;)

My computer's clock is sync'ed with a server, so I trust its displayed time. I let my three emails loose, each sent to the three email addresses that Jerry specified, at 21:55:01, 21:55:02, and 21:55:03, respectively (Wauseon, OH time, of course), but didn't win anything. And that's fine. There's a reason why we embrace the slogn "no regrets." Once your email client submits the emails to the server, it is pretty much out of your hands, and how many seconds it takes to arrive at the recipient's email account can vary, and it's not always a distance thing.

Oh, and I'd like to wish a hearty congratulations to all the lucky winners! And, a big "thank you" to Busse Combat for doing this.

Edit to Add: I should also point out that I went for the SG1 (MOAB), and realized that my chances were not good to begin with. ;)

Oh I know, there are a ton of other factors to getting the email there. :D

I used to work for a Major ISP years ago.

Mass spamming is not the answer. I sent my one email at 9:55 and left the rest up to luck and the interwebs. Just so happened my email was a lucky one to arrive milliseconds earlier than some others and I won my prize. I love that Busse was nice enough to even offer such a fun event. THANKS AMY!! You are the best!

I may need to move to Ohio and port into the T-1 line that goes to Wauseon. :p

I actually waited an additional 15 seconds (system says my email was sent at 6:55:16 pacific time) to send my email just in case.

And I still won my prize, (400.00 shop credit). I couldn't beleive it.

Just goes to show that you can win if you pick the right prize.

Thanks to the Busse Crew for a great gift.

Les.

Thanks Amy. It probably sounds like I'm complaining, I'm really not at all.just making sure for future ganzas. It was my first one so I wanted I didn't form ba habits. Thanks busse for even the opportunity!!! Can't wait till I get one of the knives so i can join the crew :) thanks

Hey Amy....if a winner mysteriously disappears does his knife go to the next line? And how about if the next in line mysteriously disappears?

Just wondering.

I think the part that confused people was this part:

"ALL EMAILS MARKED 9:54 pm or earlier will be put at the end of the line!!!!. . . So, be careful not to jump the gun boys!!! "

That could be interpreted two ways - the literal interpretation says that the individual emails will be put at the back of the line, but if one person sends a hundred emails, it's only the ones that are BEFORE the go that will be sent to the back of the line.

The other way of interpreting that statement is that the person who sent the emails will go to the back of the line. By that interpretation, if you sent one email too early, you'd basically be out of the running.

It seems clear now that what was meant was the first interpretation, but from reading a number of discussions here, it's obvious that many people interpreted it to mean the second, and thus were worried that they would be disqualified if they sent any emails early.

(please note that I am NOT complaining - I played it safe and went with the second interpretation, but figured the first was actually true. I'm just trying to help you understand the source of the confusion, and also help more hogs and piglets understand the rules for next time, so it's not just a select few who figure out the tricks). It's easy to understand how the wording of the original rules post could be interpreted in multiple ways, and how many people were able to assume that they would be disqualified if they sent any emails early, especially with all the HOG Treachery trying to trick them into doing exactly that.

That's what I was thinking too, if I sent mine too early I would have been at the end of the line.

Given your avatar that's pretty disturbing. Locking doors and windows now. :p

Hey now, I'll bring it to Blade Show West for show and tell this fall. You can pet it there.
