The June ed of Popular Mechanics is about tools and on page 25 there is an article on how many knives a man needs. The golden answer is 7. Great article - look it up if you are in an airport magazine kiosk or browsing the magazine racks!!!!

Well, yeah, I think that goes without saying. I mean if you need 7 knives then you should have them with you.... or at least within reach.
