The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history. (Wikipedia)

This is the Buck model 612 Eisenhower commemorating D-Day. Not widely known but it is one of the Living History series knives Buck did for Browning. A large knife at 13" with a 8" blade. Looks to be TiN coated and the handle is Ash wood. Eisenhowers "5 Stars" ornate the handle. Mine is Serialized 504/1944 and can be found on the 2008 SP list. Usually there is a gold Browning deer head logo, I just noticed mine does not have. These came in an indcredibly huge wall hanging cabinet which was a PITA to store. I traded the wall cabinet for an "Al Buck Kalinga" Kalinga.

There is also a 500 Duke with a blade etch comemorating D-Day. I'll leave that to someone else to post so I don't steal the whole show.

I remember as a kid seeing Eisenhower's home in Gettysburg. It's interesting that the man most identified with D-Day later made his home at the site that probably was just as significant and more costly than Normandy.
