In Hertford,N.C.,a small town about80 miles South of Norfolk,lived a man that operated a landing craft. What is astoundingly heroic,he was only 12 years old. Saw him one memorial day celebration.

Herrtford was a fishing village then & undoutbtedy he learned

seamanship then.


I followed the invasion by a BBC hook-up. Believe Edward R Murrow was the announcer. Several days later it was revealed That Omar Bradley seriously considered calling it off. Believe he was Chief of staff.

Every time I see video of Normandy, it really gets to me. There is a lot of footage from different wars that is horrific, but that one really sticks in my mind.
