Does anyone have both to compare? I want one but the lower price rtak is more appealing. Is the extras cash worth it? Honestly. I know We all love ESEE here but try not to play favorites. Any input would help :p

Did you see the destruction video? The RTAK II is 90-100 with a throwaway sheath. The Junglas is retailing for around 130 without a sheath, and 150 with, 168-175 with and shipped. For the marginal cost more, and considering the insane sheath it comes with, I don't even need it in hand to know it's worth it. Once mine finally comes into the dealer and ships out to me, I can compare, but others have already posted enough reviews to cover the fact it rocks. The RTAK II is a fine blade, but the same old knocks on Ontario apply. They're fine knives, BUT, fit and finish isnt as good, heat treat is suspect, the sheath sucks, the warranty isnt as good, and in the case of the RTAK, the handle isn't as desirable. (HUGE)

The one thing I really like about the RTAK II over the Junglas is the spotfor your index finger on the blade. I don't know why that feature was removed from the Junglas, but it really limits the use of the blade to a chopper only.

There really is no comparison. The the extra money is well spent. The RTAK II is not in the same league. I say that because I've used both. I've had a RTAK II for quite some time and it's seen extensive use. One time using the Junglas is all it takes to know which is better. I'm simply looking at them as tools. I get little satisfaction from beauty, even grind lines, finish, and all that. The Junglas is more efficient and worth more, period. It's just a better tool.

I really don't much fancy choils. IMO, I rather it not be there.

A choil lets you choke up for more delicate cuts, but I can't really imagine trying to make delicate cuts with a 10" blade. Perhaps I just need more muscle on my forearms though :p

as a tool is what i want, good point about the sheath i forgot about that.
I have handled the RTAK and it is really uncomfortable because i have smaller hands. This is good info, thanks.

I really want to see a side by side picture comparison of thickness and the handles.

I think the Junglas is worth the extra cash over the RTAK II.

1 The Junglas handle is the most comfortable one yet for the RTAK series.

2 The high saber grind should make the blade stronger laterally.

3 The sheath alone is worth the extra price.

4 The fit and finish are better on the Junglas.

5 Rowen does a super job on the heat treat for 1095 steel (see the
destruction test).

I have large hands and my RTAK II is a handfull. From looking at the pictures posted above the Junglas looks as though it would have a wonderful feel in the hand. The handle is just enough smaller that it seems as though you could get a much better grip. I may have to try one to find out for myself, plus the better sheath is a big bonus.

I have big hands and hated the grip on the original RTAK.
The Junglas feels great in my hand, and my wife - who is tiny, er, I mean "fun sized" - says it's barely too large for her comfort, but still useable.

The RTAK grip was horrible.

The RTAKII grip was a lot better, but still didn't feel quite right, and was too big -- and I have big gorilla mitts.

The Junglas looks like what the RAT guys wanted the RTAK to be from the start.
That alone makes the Junglas worth getting over the previous ones. Plus a sheath that can't be beat.

I have several Junglas sized blades with sub par sheaths. The sheath is one of the big reasons that I'm going to order one.I know some people don't mind having their own sheath made. But,I won't send a knife in to have one made for it,call me silly. The sheath and the fact that Rowen made it is a deal maker for me.Oh,the price is right too!

well i got this bad boy as a b-day present and as most of you guys i wasnt happy wiith the handle , the coating , the color, the edge etc.etc. but i got it for free right ?? so i did a lill something to make more appealing and to upgrade performance to its yard duty ahead ..
