I have wanted a Junglas, but have a Scrapyard Dogfather currently. I don't need a "reason" to purchase, but was wondering if they fill pretty much the same niche.

Any input appreciated. Especially if someone has both.

Both 10" bladed choppers. The Dogfather is heavier, thicker and has the ResC handle.

The Junglas has the same blade length, but is lighter, thinner, with what i think is a better handle, plus it comes with a fantastic sheath system.

They both fill the role of a large camp knife/chopper very well. Same basic role so you probably don't neeed one, but since when has that mattered to a steel addict.

They can both fill the same role but I feel the Junglas is better suited for a variety of tasks and the Dogfather is better suited for smashing through a car or tank. I haven't personally handled a Junglas but I have the Busse BWM which is about a similar as two knives can be and I sold my Dogfathers mainly because they aren't as balanced, the handle tended to ride forward while chopping, and it was thicker than I needed.
Love the Dogfather but IMO the better all around knife is probably the Junglas hands down.

I love my Dogfather and sold my Junglas, handed my BK9 down to my brother and just got a Busse B11 that will challenge the Dog for hip time.

The Junglas is .188 vs .275 thickness and 1095 so its a quality piece built to be a great all around chopper. 1095 in general, has had issues of breakage in extreme cold weather, it chips out easier than Dog from personal experience, but holds it edge better than the dog, the SR77 (S7) is a shock steel and dulls. The handle on the Dog is perfect for me, same with the blade forward balance, the Junglas is more neutral in balance and in hand, the handle was not as good for me, but alot of people think its amazing.

So there is my little synopsis .02 worth, have a good one.
