Junglas vs Rtac

I am just getting into the ESEE brand of knives and love what I hear. Before a camping trip last year I bought a RTAK II I believe and it is my first "big" knife and I really enjoyed what it could do. Is it worthwhile to go ahead and buy the Junglas also or are the knives about the same. I believe the Rtac is made by Onterio and I dont know much about them either?

I love the Junglas, but I'd say no, unless you can get a good used price out of your old one. They are way to similar in design and purpose. I do beleive the ESEE is a better product, better warranty, and way better people running the company, but really, how much would you gain?

The Junglas is an "improved model" RTAK II.
If you have an RTAK and you like it, there's no real need to shell out the $$ for a Junglas.
(I would suggest shelling out some $$ for a better kydex sheath, though)

I agree! and if you want a new sheath, check out the Sheaths & Such forum for some good makers.

Honestly I'd just a machete out running around in woods with my 3 in tow, however cool factor and spectacle using junglas def has the wow ability, but I have more swing with machete than I do with junglas, just my mediocre opinion... When chopping stuff I find I have to force more power into junglas, and the machete has this end weight that lends to ease of use in comparison.

It depends.
Will you:
1.) use the RTAK until you bust it? If so, you might want to just replace it instead, and if you bust the Junglas, ESEE is good for it
2.) Notice the difference? Sheath, heat treat/temper, fit and finish?
3.) care that much about the branding/have pride of ownership with the ESEE?

If you answered yes to those questions, you should part with the extra cash. If not, then you'll probably be fine with the RTAK

If he busts it, he needs to be using the right tool for the job.
