Sit back on a rustic porch and enjoy a slice of real rural Cuba.

Viñales is a small town and municipality in the north-central Pinar del Río Province of Cuba. Viñales is an agricultural area, where crops of fruit, vegetables, coffee and especially tobacco are grown by traditional methods.

Trinidad it has been one of UNESCOs World Heritage sites since 1988. Open your eyes, gaze up at the high wooden louvers of your 200-year-old colonial room, and try to convince yourself youre in the 21st century. North of town, higgledy-piggledy cobblestone streets peter out into the Escambray Mountains, where there are many outdoors activities for the adventurous spirited travelers. The high, cool mountains of the Escambray shelter coffee bushes, tropical birds, palms, and waterfalls. You can hike the forested trails of the Topes de Collantes park with a Cuban guide amid bird singing, before cooling off in the turquoise green pool of waterfalls.

An hour horse ride from Trinidad was the plan. There was a hidden waterfall, so they said.
