I posted some pictures of my new HOGFSH earlier in the week. I got home late Thursday and had a chance to play with this new SH. All I can say is, Kudos to the Busse Shop, fantastic job! This knife is all I thought it would be and more. The heft is impressive. The thickness of the blade is complimented nicely by the razor sharp factory edge....may be the sharpest from the Busse/SRKW shop that I have! I'm glade I went with the standard scales. Plenty of profile and thickness with this thick of a blade. OK - I'm hooked ;)

I took these photos early this morning. The lighting was perfect to show off the contours in the Micarta.

I love the laser engraving of the logo - nice and deep!

Here's a comparison shot with one from the "other" company. I thought the 'weiler was tough.....

I'm curious as to the differences between the Ratweiler and EU17 handles. They look awfully similar.

Rick - who manfully resisted the urge to by one of the Rat Daddy LEs

Easy answer - I like them both. ;) The Ratweiler pictured above is actually unique in that it has a flat profile, similar to some Busses. The Rat Daddy has the more typical profile. I LOVE how the Rat Daddy's grip feels. It is a little thinner, but it fills my hand better than the standard Resiprene-C of the base SRKW line. I was chattin' with the Poor Guy the other day saying that I wish SRKW would make a special run of the Ratweilers with the verboten material from the other side of the shop. I think it is about the perfect size and weight for a field knife. Maybe a new NO would be better.....I haven't had a chance to handle one since I got these knives. Busse didn't have one at Blade this year.

The Fusion handle, let me clarify, the STANDARD, Fusion handle is a little larger/longer than the Ratweiler's, but not by much. The Fusion is a bit thicker, but I think the 5/16" blade adds to that. The center section is thinner, or should I say, not as tall as the 'weiler's. The Fusion has sort of a palm swell in the middle (it swells in height and in width). It has a natural place to rest your thumb in the Micarta where it thins towards the blade, which I really like. The Magnum Fusion doesn't really do it for me. I had a chance to compare the standard to the magnum at Blade and I actually called the shop and changed my handles from Magnum to standard after the show. The magnums had too much of a palm swell to me, but others loved it.

I want to get another SH and another RW...so like I said, I like'em both :D

Edited to add: Appreciate the feedback guys - I like photgraphing my knives as much as anything else. I generally venture a little farther than the house to take the pics though.....yard work kept me from going too far today

LOL Bryan! ;) We were talking about heading your way again sometime for another vacation. I'm dying to get my hands on another big Halibut.

Actually, I broke the chains of oppression by working in the yard. I hopped on an airplane from NY Thursday and was able to fire up the pit today with some tenderloins, drink some cold beer, hang with my fam and play with INFI. Not too bad, but I appreciate the offer. :D

Have you heard from your roomie Voracious? I haven't seen him around here in a while
