Hey All,
A few weeks ago Steely posted the mods he made to his Pen knife. I loved it and said it was dangerous to get me thinking!! Well thinking I did, and decided to make my Jungle knife more mine. The jungle knife reminds me of the J.E.S.T Jungle survival tool. First thing I decided to do was to make the handle shorter, it was about 7 1/2 inches long and was about 2 1/2 inches longer than my grip.
I angle cut it and rounded the edges some, and left about a 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 at the back. Then roughed it up and did the Fiber Fix wrap on it, boy let me tell you that when Steely said it grips he wasn't kidding, this aint going anywhere!!!! After the wrap dried I used some black matte paint to finish the handle.
After the handle was done, I went to work on the blade, like Steely, I used 220 sandpaper on it to give a satin finish and then used some bluing paste, I probably did five or six coats of the bluing with a light buff of O4 steel wool in between. After bluing I did a final buff with the steel wool and used some windex on the blade to stop the bluing process, then some oil and called it done. I really love how it came out, now I need to decide what kind of sheath to make for it.
I hope you guys like it and thanks Steely for giving me the motivation to do this, Sorry so pic heavy.
