can the rough Buffalo handle be polished up like the dress model?

how would you do it?

I don't see why not. Use progressively finer grits of sandpaper until it's smooth, then seal it up with something like Hooflex.

what is hooflex?

It's a product used for treating/maintaining livestock hooves. It's a mix of mineral oil and some sort of wax, if I remember correctly. You should be able to get it at feed supply stores or just order online somewhere.

You can polish horn with a buffing wheel and red rouge.
