I really think this is an awesome looking knife, but unfortunately know very little about it. I have read all those fancy ads in the magazines, but always like to hear an unbiased opinion. In any case if you could tell me about the quality of the knife it would be appreciated. Also as much as I like the looks of the knife the retail price seems, well lets just say I would get myself another Randall. Which brings me to my next point. How much could one of these beasts be bought for? From whom? Anyhow thanks for your time.

I have always been a fan of the Junglee fixed blade stuff manufactured in Seki. I can't say much about their other offerings due to lack of first hand experience. Many of the hard core knife knuts here dislike Junglee for the sole reason that Junglee "borrows" designs from other manufactureres/makers, but the quality of the product has its own merit and for the money, hardly anyone can dispute this.
I have a Hattori Jr. and like it very much. It is a well made piece. I have never handled the Hattori but I would assume that it is merely a larger version of the Jr. and that the quality and detail are the same.
If I'm not mistaken, there is one for sale on Ebay right now.

PhilL,

I think you may have mis-read me here. I agree with you totally and believe that Randall Made knives quality are second to none! I just really like the looks of the Hattori Fighter and would be interested in one, but no way for the retail price of $229.00. I just wanted some info on them and may add one to my collection only if the price is right.

The M.V.S.- 8 stainless Seki City Japanese made Hattori fighter is designed to be a pure FIGHTER. Just witness the recurve blade, needle sharp point, partially serrated secondary swedge, and almost full length blood groove! It wins the visual appeal hands down. But more important is the design and weight that makes it a beautifully balanced piece. It' s not at all heavy for its size and can be manipulated very quickly. Although not as sturdy as kydex, the leather sheath is quite nicely made.

For me MVS-8 sounds like AUS-8A. What kind of steel is MVS-8? If it is used i a fighter it shoud be quite tough. CS uses incredibly tough
wink.gif
AUS-8 in their figters.

Does anybody know the elemental composition, typical hardness, manufacturer ect. ???

MVS-8:

Carbon- 0.85
Chromium- 14.00
Manganese- 0.50
Molybdenum- 2.50
Silicon- 0.50
Vanadium- 0.15
HRC- 59-61

Pretty close to AUS8 but with much more Molybdenum content (AUS8- .10-.30) and hardened to a slightly higher Rockwell.

Nakano
