Chuck Bybee supplied me with a piece of "junk stag" to practice on so I would not ruin the high dollar piece I got from him. He is a great guy by the way, and will always try to get you the best piece of material for the need.

Anyway, I had a small 1084 blade laying around the shop that did not come out the way I wanted, so I decided to split the stag piece an put a handle on the junk knife.

Now it did not come out perfect, but for a couple of pieces of "junk" I am pretty happy...

Thanks to Chuck for contributing to my education into natural handles!

That's a great looking knife and the stag is definitely not junk. I'd say it's no longer a junk knife :)

Can't see what "wrong" with that knife

Seems it has a very comfortable handle/profile, nice hamon, usefull blade shape, nice "vintage" finish...

You are right, Chuck is the best! Hey thats a nice knife. I sure wouldnt call it junk. Lets see what you can do with better materials now.

I'd be happy to take that "junk" off your hands. You shouldn't be forced to deal with it.:D Seriously, that looks nice!

Tom,that looks pretty darn fantastic,IMHO

Thanks guys for all the comments. I didn't show the left side at all, because that side is the not so nice side! This roll would have been better on a hidden tang, but since the project I am working on is a full tang, I tried to make it work.
This one is going to be a nice gift for a friend for fathers day.
