Thinking about picking one up, just looking for any recommendations on a model since there is a bunch.

Thanks :D

Depends on what you want to spend really. I would definitely start with the JYD II, as the size is almost perfect imo (it is on the large side for some).

From there, its all about price and features. You can spend on the high end and get a super sexy SG2/Ti version, which for the price, is highway robbery...or you can get the basic version and be satisfied with G-10 and the respectable 13C27.

My advice, go middle of the road, and get the CPM D2 Composite model. It is simply unkillable, I have tried, and it laughed at me. You wont find a tougher knife for the money.

I'd second the Composite Blade JYD II (1725CB). Tough as nails, great G-10, a smooth flipper, and all for about $ 75 or so...cheaper if you look around.

3rd the CB for me.
I just bought myself one for Christmas and I love it.
Every time I pull it out to use it someone asks me about it.

+1 on the JYD 2 composite blade. Definitely on of the coolest looking knives I own. It holds an edge extremely well, carries well, and handles very well. Pick one up, you won't regret it!!!

I'd actually say spen a few more dollars and go for the Ti/SG2 combo. Man I love that knife. I need another to have just for collection.

On a serious note: I just got my 2nd SG2Ti JYDII today. Headed to STR very soon.

Would I be wrong for suggesting the smaller 3 inch blade Junkyard dog stainless steel handled frame lock for less money.

You wouldn't be wrong, just different. We are cool with different!

I personally love the larger size and would never purchase the smaller size because it doesn't have the blade mass to flip easily, and doesn't fit my hand well. That doesnt make me right or wrong, just opinionated.

Vote #5 for the JYDII Composite Blade.

It's a super tough functional beast that is gorgeous at the same time.
