Ok, I did my best at the 1/2 G10, 1/2 Titanium with the SG2. There were 3 points that had to be modified and drilled to match the G10 to the titanium model. I also have always liked the look of the Bronze pivot on the Benchmade Dejavu model so I thought Iwould try it here. Everything came out perfect for fit and function.

Where you get this G10 scale? It does not look like from original JYDII.

Thanks, Vassili.

it's from a black G10 JYDII... I had to enlarge the rear screw hole to match the lanyard hole on the titanium. Then drill a new rear hole for the screw, also to match. Since I didn't want the steel liner, I had to also drill from the inside of the liner to make a hole for the stopping pin near the pivot. By the way, it's thinner and noticeable lighter

Nice work!
So the bronze bushing and not being recessed make up for not having a liner, or did you have to modify the pivot?

Both, I modified the pivot, shortened both +/-, to make up for the liner. I dumped the liner because it makes the knife significantly lighter (especially with the G10 instead of the titanium). Then, amidst all the parts... I remembered my idea about the DejaVu. It's actually kind of nice because adjusting the pivot is so smooth... and actually holds position after opening and closing many times. As for recessing the bushing, G10 is not the cleanest stuff to cut... and while the other holes came out very crisp, I was wondering if I might screw that up. it's pretty thin to begin with and looks nice as is (i think)

When I saw the title, I thought it was a kneedeep post the way it was written. ;)

Nice job on the conversion OE. Very nice.

very... it went together actually much tighter for some reason. G10 is pretty tough stuff. I have it with me today and so far all is good. Doesn't need adjustment, and lock-up is rock solid. centering good. Flipping seems faster. Very light and thin.. I get a weight of 4.3oz compared to 5.2oz for the G10 JYDII, and 4oz for the JYDI

one thing I'm watching is the stop pin.... since it plugs directly into the G10. I believe that since the other side of the pin is tight into the titanium, the G10 will be more than strong enough to not wear

thats cool. i knew g-10 is tough, but i wasnt sure how exactly it would hold up without a liner.

I don't now did you see my initial post - requset to Tim. But this is what I meant by colorful G10 (I hope you don't mind me playing with your pictures in PhotoShop Elements):

Tim and Thomas,

I saw many makers doing this now YunaKnives, Hinderer etc, after Strider I think, and I like it.

It also I guess creates more demand - check out Busse success with their choice of different colors on handles. I am buying one JYDII Ti but I may buy more if they will have different variations in handle colors etc...

And I guess you do not need to change too much in production line - just combine different parts when assembling (or even sell scales separately like BM doing now).

Thanks, Vassili.

very cool! of course I don't mind ;) Hey... it was interesting to see 2 other handle colors for the NeedsWork... green and red (at the Kershaw sale). I agree about the genral importance of color and variety. Just depends on the price point and popularity of the model, I guess

Now THATS what I'm talking about!

Now I need to start saving for another JYD II and a Ti/SG2 JYD II (if there will be any left)

The Spuderco Military model is G-10 without liners.
Been that way since the late 90s. I have one that is very well used.
You are right, G-10 is tough.

Well Oregon Edge, it appears I have won that JYD 1/2 G-10, 1/2 Titanium that you have just completed. After all it is a requirement that on the 500th post you HAVE TO give away whatever knife you are posting about...........Nobody told you about this?? Oh well, just wait till you get to 1000! Btw, I'll forward you a shipping address............and please ship it using an overnight service!!:eek:;):D

Bad lookin' Buger you got there!

Ok, here's something close to that. Last night I was looking at all the parts etc and was planning to covert something for just that purpose.... BUT, despite the fact that I tried REAL hard not to F it up... I ended up doing so. Screwed up a perfectly good scale etc etc. Now I have to buy a knife to get something together.

Anyway, to calm myself down I did some refining on the knife shown in this post. It's just about perfect. I took off the clip (which I am not fond of) and made sure all the screws were flush etc etc. You would be amazed at how thin, light and fast this knife is. very cool.

Removing the clip and screws also got it down to an even 4.0oz which is the same weight as the smaller JYD1.
