Do any of you guys have a JYD 2? If so, how do you like it? I was thinking about getting one from Kershawguy for $55. Do you think it's worth it?

Blems are usually okay to get right, they don't have that much of of problem do they?

It's a really cool knife. I have one and it is a smooth flipper and has nice D2 blade steel in the composite.

I have a JYD2 blem, and as I wrote in another thread, I still have no clue why its a blem. I honestly haven't found a single thing wrong with it.
The knife itself is very ergonomic and razor-effin-sharp. I like the shape of the blade a lot and its very smooth to open.
Great knife, especially for that price and you can't go wrong with kershawguy

EDIT: the HUGE clip is the one thing I don't like about the knife, might as well carry a big sign that says: I'M CARRYING A KNIFE IN MY POCKET !!!

P.S. nice nickname, but now I'm craving ice cream ;)

Have several variations of the JYD like them all and yeah the clip is strange but carry's fine

Love mine but never carry it due to breathtakingly-ugly-tip-down-only clip. I need to get it modded for tip up carry.

I believe that blems are only cosmetic wrongs with the knife.

Great knife.........that gets carried now.:D

As for Blems you I don't but them any more. I have four and two of them have bad lock problems. Locks that move all the way to the right are more than "cosmetics". If I could handle it before purchase then I might. Thomas, a few years back, posted that if you are just getting "cosmetic" problems you are very lucky, most he said have lock problems of some kind.

The price needs to be lower than $20 under street price for me to take the risk. Get a 1st and get a warranty and a perfect knife.

Watch ebay and get a 1st for less than what the 2nds are selling for, but it might take some time. I picked this one up for just under $50 last year.

Nice solution to the "ugly clip" issue. Did you do anything special (tap and die) when drilling holes for the new clip?

I have two, both composite D2, and it's probably my favorite folder. Very satisfying knife to own.

I have a JYD2 blem, and as I wrote in another thread, I still have no clue why its a blem. I honestly haven't found a single thing wrong with it.

One of my two JYDs is a blem, and I don't see anything wrong with it, other than it didn't come with that cool little bag the new ones come with.

My blem is one of the older (jigsaw) ones, and my other JYD is the l "shark's tooth" compositie pattern.

Love mine. Actually, love my 2. Have a grey and a newer black.
Gets sharp, stays sharp, cuts forever. Surprisingly ergonomic. And thin, if you choose to carry it in a pocket.
And best of all - the composite blade is really cool. Very well done.

oh - one is a blem, both are great. I would only buy a blem from Dave though, since you otherwise have no clue what you might be getting. my 0.02.

Yes it is drilled and tapped into the stainless liner. Tap size is 2/56 the standard Kershaw screw size. You will also need a wire size #50 drill bit.

What kind of bits did you use? I've read different things about the high speed steel bits and steel liners. 1SHOT1KILL Tapped my 0550 for the deep carry clip (G10 side with liner), but I've only tapped G10 and the CF/aluminum on my Blur. I used a HSS bit, and a TiN coated tap with great results. However, drilling and tapping a steel liner intimidates me.

I have done it a few times in years past; when drilling the stainless liner, use a slow rotational speed, as SS tends to work harden if machined at too fast a speed (something I learned from my time working at a metal spinning shop when I was in my twenties).

Just HSS and slow and steady. I did per-drill with the smallest bit I had 1/32"or so.

As you see here, the issue for many is the JYD's clip.

As for blems, I would get one if I couldn't find a knife elsewhere or the $$ was too high.

Otherwise, no.

Another word for blem is a second. While you might get one with only cosmetic issues, you might get other issues as well. It's a gamble. And no warranty.

As for the JYD, I prefer the regular version, without the zigzag blade. No reason other than aesthetics.
