Here is my JYD1... I was wondering how many were aware of the clip variation on this model. The first production run of 500 had the "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" etching between the screws... I haven't seen it since, disappeared. I actually cheated because the JYD pictured that I carry is a later model that I replaced with the earlier clip. I was wondering why Kershaw decided to remove this element. I can imagine it might have been a pain to etch that on each clip, given all the other marks on this design. Oh well... I REALLY liked it since anyone familiar with aircraft will recognize the marking... as with the FUEL and NO STEP. I Really love this model.
 
Interesting ! Mine has the same clip "remove before flight". But the blade isnt marked "1-500". Arent they usually? Mine also has a BOD of Dec 06.

that's odd... I thought the first production was marked Jan. 07. I'll check the one I have
 
My JYD I was made Feb. of '07, and it has the "remove before flight" printed on the pocket-clip.

maybe Kershaw no longer requires removal of the clip before flight... that would make the most sense to me ;)
 
I just bought a JYD this afternoon.

I love it! :thumbup:

My local knife knut store had 2 in stock, one marked "Feb 07" and the other marked "Mar 07". The Feb one had the "Remove before flight" and the March did not.

I bought the February one. :p
 
I think some of the larger JYD II's also had the marking on the clip... meaning that was the only mark on there since it has the G10 scales. BUT, that one disappeared too. I had a shot at a discounted 1 of 500 JYDII but I passed. It was gone the next day. I hesitate because I actually don't like having the big markings like that on the blade.
