Jurassic Park?

In the movie Jurassic Park, Sam Neill, who played the part of Dr. Grant, wore a very nice looking sheath that was 1/2 leather on the top, with a rounded off bottom half of what looked to be polished stainless.

If a craftsman invested that much effort into a sheath, the contents must be equally beautiful.

Does anyone know if this pouch contaned a knife, or compass, or other field tool? If so, can you provide a link?

TIA!

I've seen that movie a dozen times. Always thought that was a sharp looking sheath.
Wonder who made it?

Owen, I'm with you!!!

If the sheath was THAT nice, can you imagine what the heck was in it? I'm dyin' to find out!

Can anyone else help us figure out what was in that pouch? I also keep tabs on a wristwatch board, and for just about any movie you can think of, the folks there know exactly what watch was in what movie.

You don't want those folks at www.timezone.com to get a leg up on youze guyz, now do you?!?!?

I do believe that was a small folding shovel/Trowel with the stainless tip being the point of the shovel. I've seen them for sale in camping stores. Neat idea but kinda pricey as I recall.

Bill - I don't think that's it. The pouch looked as though the leather and metal were attached to each other, and there was some sort of "d" ring loop at the end of it.

I'll try go grab a screen shot, and post it.

The d ring is the folded over handle protruding below. If you try the wilderness survival forum you may come up with a name of the shovel

Bill - you got me! I played the movie on DVD, froze the frame, and zoomed in. Couldn't grab a screen shot, but it looks like you're probably right.

So, now the question is: other than an palaeontologist, who else would need to walk around with a mini-shovel on their belt?
