Just a bad day. I need a clip and screws!

Yesterday started with 5 acres needing mowed and ended with 3 that didn't. My tractor broke down. When I finally got it into the garage I found out the transmission was a goner, right after I tore it down to the frame mind you. The tranny costs 3/4 of what a new tractor costs. So new tractor it is.

As I was feeling sorry for myself I forgot about the tractor body that was laying on its side and caught the clip of my Manix on it. I noticed just in time to see it snap off. I hadn't carried it in months.

So I went into my garage, and got my bit set and thought "I can at least enjoy the nice day" and sat down at the picnic table to take out the screws. I don't smoke anymore so my old ashtrays are now used for holding bolts or screws when I work on small things like knives or electronics. My Coonhound was milling around and suddenly thought I needed some attention. Both paws landed right on the ashtray flinging the screws to the oblivion that is grass and dirt. I yelled "no" but it was too late. Finding tiny black screws is pretty close to impossible in that setting.

I was mad at first but then I figured he just wanted to cheer me up. The day ended with both of us sitting on the porch eating slices of trail bologna and cheese that was cut by my now clip-less Manix. Grease kind of sticks to the DLC but it works OK with cheese and smoked meats.

So, I thought I'd never need to know but how much are replacement clips and screws? I assume since they are the black coated screws they'll be extra? I can't seem to find a way to order them on Spyderco's site. I checked under accessories as that seemed like it would be the most likely place to find them?

Sorry to hear about the bad day. Sometimes hanging out with your pup can make things seem a little better.

I pulled this from their site. Replacement Clip Kits may be purchased directly through the Spyderco Factory Outlet (SFO) by contacting us at 800-525-7770 X107, 303-279-8383 X107, or sfo@spyderco.com. It was under the service and support link.

I just ordered some clips for myself. 2 black clips which include the black screws were $15

Don't even bother...
Go to your local hardware store and buy a 50lb pull magnet, tie a string to it and wrap it in a plastic zip lock bag, sweep the surrounding 20' around the table with the magnet.

When you gather your screws, pull the bag over the magnet and seal up your screws.

Put the dog inside and go back to reassembling your knife.

If you need a quick visual aid for your concentric circles, so you don't over lap too much, drag a light line behind you (extending 10' - 15'). This will allow you to turn your circle while seeing the line held in place by the grass. This will allow you to path outside of your previous circle.

If you don't find 'em, I might have some spares lying around I can send you.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll be calling Spyderco tomorrow. I have a huge magnet, only thing it picked up was a nail and a small piece of thin cable. I already need the clip so I might as well get two and the screw sets for just in case. They really should just put them on the online store, I'd bet they'd sell more of those than the plastic knife display diamonds.

Or you could simply call customer service and ask.

I've been sent clips and screws for free many a time.
