I am a fairly recent convert to Spyderco but have quickly become a big fan . A friend at work learned of this and brought this sweet little Delica in and made it a gift to me.

I was just wondering if one of you knowledgeable Spyderco fans could tell me which generation Delica it is and about when it would have been manufactured . The blade is stamped Aus-8 Stainless under Spyderco on one side and Seki-City over Japan on the other . The textured side of the handle has Clipit Delica around the Spyderco spider . The clip and handle are all one piece and is of course plastic . On the clip is molded US and Foreign Patents .
I apologize if this is a redundant type of question . I tried to find this information by doing a search but Delica is mentioned so much that it seemed nearly impossible to find what I was looking for .
Thanks in advance .
Jim

It's before generation 3 for sure. I think with the integrated clip, it's a Gen 1. I hesitate, however, because I'm not sure what a Gen 2 looks like.

If it is Gen 1 about how old do you think it would be ? Also thanks for the reply .

It looks like that is indeed a 1st Generation Delica, and the Aus-8 lets you know that it was made between 1995 and 1998. Prior to that they were made of GIN-1/G2 and the second generation ones had metal clips and Aus-6 steel.

Edit: According to the spydiewiki, it is a Gen 1 C11PSBK, and they were produced sometime between 95 and 98.

It is Generation 1. Generation 2 are all with stainless handles + Aus-6 steel in the blade. Since your knife has an Aus-8 blade instead of GIN-1/G-2, it should have been made between 1995 and 1998.

Great information guys . Just exactly what I wanted to know . Many thanks .
Jim
