Well, as I said in another thread I slightly modified the edge angle on my EU-17 Magnum to around 20-30 degrees inclusive from soomething that was rather obtuse (sorry, I don't have a precise angle). The performance increase is easily visible  (My index finger agrees too :D ). I unfortunately have no tests to compare it too but here it goes. At the end of these tests, the knife could still shave as well as before I started the test. This test was not to test edge retention (I know this knife could do this many more times before any loss would be observed, I simply wanted to test the increase in penetration and chopping power.

This is one of my favourites, this clearly shows the penetration.

I should note, this would had been in storage for over three years so it was very hard! :D A good test

Good grief Peter, You are the real deal! :D You'll probably get on the Busse website with those pics.

Thanks guys! :D

I also found a Cinder Block in the garage...

But I don't think I want to try that out....yet. :D

Has anyone tried a cinder block chop with a Busse? I have seen it done with a Battle Rat but not a Busse. I know if a SR a Busse could for sure but I am still unsure as to if should try it out.

Yes you could do it. But why? They have done it for you, and took pics, so you would know it could be done. It's like if your driving a Lamborghini and at a stoplight a stock VW Bug wants to race. You know you can beat him so why waste time and risk getting a ticket. Nothing wrong with revving the engine though.

:D

Dayum! :D Thanks for sharing, Peter. I'd like to know, too, what you used to redo the edge.

Thanks everyone! :D

I just used a coarse Arkansas stone and tried to sharpen at about 10 degrees since I naturally go up at the end of the stroke. The final edge is probably somewhere between 10 and 15 degrees per side. Total time spent would probably be about an hour and a half but that is with frequent breaks to do ther things. I then used a medium stone and went to fine. The new edge is quite sharp, very durable (from what I have seen so far), and slices cleanly off branches up to an inch in diameter. :D

Sure, the results would be better with an edge pro or similar system but I have free hand sharpened since I got into knives so it is easier for me than to learn something new. I was actually quite surprised that the work made such a difference.

If I make the HOG FSH a user, it would get the same treatment, it is well worth the effort.

Thanks. I saw what Jody did to that tree with the Aftershock Bolo. Makes me want one really badly! :D

Maybe I should take down a tree next time instead of splitting! :D

Very nice pics! It's nice to see it being used! It's too bad there weren't more of the EU17 Mags made... I do like 'em a lot!

Maybe one day... ;)

The sharpened portion in the above picture looks like a hamon. Nice!

What you call a hamon is actually my uneven removal of coating. :D :o

As for the link, you will need to email KAAK for pics. The pics were taken off for reasons you will understand when you see the pics. It is really funny. :D

Man, I want to see the Pics!!!

Repost them! Repost them! Repost them!

Don't be a chicken! :D
