Some of you might know me from the Cold Steel forum...
My hubby inherited quite a large mixed lot of straight razors, Cold Steel, kitchen knives, and other blades. He loves guns and is not really interested in the knives.
My first goal is to sort them - find out what they are called and what they are for - find out if they are just "interesting" or are rare/of value.
I'm not asking for values, nor am I trying to sell anything.
Yes, I will try to sell later, but my intention is not to sell here.
First I must determine if what I have is even worth researching.
With that said, what are these called? What are they for?
This is just a sample of about 20-30 that i unboxed today.
Are they originals? Old? New? Fake? From another country?
Where do I look for identifying marks?
(And I do not know why he put blue tape on all the knives, except as a way to identify them, which does not really help me at all.)
Anyone want to play "what's behind curtain number 2?"

Blue tape looks like it has what he paid, over-all(?) length, and what it's called.

I'll shut up and get out of the way of the experts now.

Yes, but an internet search really gets me nowhere. I don't know more than the basic name. I don't know how to tell the handle type, age, origin, etc

Two are khukuri, the others aren't. The on e marked "chainpure" is a chainpure model:D. Looks like a typical tourist type khukuri. The other I can't say. It might help to include pics of the blade. Someone painted the chape of the sheath and the handle bolster black.

It says what they are on the blue tape. There are two kukris, a golok and a parang. Not sure what the little one is but it probably has the name on its blue tape too which I can’t read in the picture.

I concur that the names are basically it. And seeing that these are largely traditional knives, one can never be certain of its makers. Because it is only through its makers that one is able to attain all the correct relevant technical information. That being said this is why makers marks are important for proper identification, something which is very seldom seen in these sorta traditional ethnic knives.
Anyway some of the knives types or smilar to it, have been seen fit for reviews...

So my take is that the lot of blades are not particularly exceptional or fine works of art from nepal and indonesia marketed by an outfit which is thought to have been located in Perth, Western Australia.

Those with the black horn handles are indeed Valiant goloks. Valiant went out of business a few years ago. The prices on the blue tape are pretty close to what they bring now, give take a little.
