Was looking for something a few minutes ago among the stacks of yellow and black boxes. No memory of a 405 so opened it up. Still had to research it. Oldage sucks..

Anyhow.... Point is, it came in a nice heavily tanned leather sheath and when I took it out I had to take some brasso to it to clean the goo off from the tanning process. Been in that box since about mid 2009 or so I guess.

I rarely store one in its sheath, but I guess I did this one because no room in that box for the sponge wrap I would normally use.

Wrapped it in a paper towel and managed to get it back in on top of and out of the sheath.

Check yours if you managed to grab one of these. Either the build outs or the full blown version of the King of Bucks.

Do a search here on 405 if you want pics and such.

Now back to trying to remember what I was looking for in the first place. :(

Yep Ratty the build out is that stag handled steak knife;). The first 405 was a LE with Oak handle & Buck did a SO "king of Buck's" for BPS or Cabelas (can't remember witch one).

I have run across a couple of knives stored in leather and had tarnishing on bolsters -- and in one case, the blade itself from exposure to the snap.

I inserted a sleeve of waxed paper into the sheath.

Problem solved.
