First if I am overstepping my bounds just let me know.

It seems to me that a lot of our fellow forum friends are going through some tough times. Life changes all the time, and some of us are blessed through this bad times. I thought maybe we could make a sticky and post on there a need and availability sticky. We should do it anonymously of course.

I dont know if the forum prohibits it or not or if it is too much for the moderators to add.

Something like if someone needs work (thats what it would be mostly for) just post through moderator on the sticky a need work in blank area. If one of us knows of a availability in that field we could post where to look on the sticky as a reply. the people with work needs could do this anonymously by going through the moderators.

I for example know of several nursing homes and hospital that have openings in the area for marketers and admissions position. There are also 3 home health agencies hiring marketers.

I dont know, just a stupid idea maybe...

I'm all for helping people and junk, but if someone needs work the last place they should be checking is on a forum. Look for job opportunities in your local area or try talking with people to help you out. This is a knife forum, not a career finder site.

Sorry if this is coming off harsh, but it's the truth. I empathize with people in need and going through tough times, but this isn't the place to seek help.

No, but it appears to me that some consider each other here on the board friends. my opinion is friends help friends. This is not the first place the should be at, but more like a by the way if you hear of something....

like I said its only a idea.
 
I like the idea myself. Whether it'll fly or be too hard to do, I don't know. I know it's not knife related BUT we do become friends and a forum family. People get together, they hang out and we help each other out at times with word of encouragement, prayer or whatnot.

Maybe I'm a little sappy.
 
IMO most of the people that post there problems here are just looking to friends to vent not for someone to bail them out........We are kind of an online bartender if you will.... the best thing we can do for our brethren is have an understanding ear and send them with best wishes and a prayer.
 
Fair enough. It looks like it was a bad idea. I was not looking to give people a bail out, but rather a note on where there might be some work that had not heard of. I did not think of financial help.

Thanks for the replies and thoughts. Not a biggie.

Brother I don't think it is a bad idea I just think it might be a bit of a logistical night mare to put something like that together....BUT that by no means means that if someone around your neck of the woods has a problem that they mention on the forum you can't IM them with helpful info.....You have a big heart brother and I dig that.........Drew:thumbup:

ya'll do know there's a RAT pack map right? there's nothing stopping you from looking at the map and getting together w/ RAT pack members in your area.

We have had several RAT pack members to our home and are camping w/ our "locals" this weekend. EXCEPT YOU DREW! :P stupid boy scouts.

You don't think I ain't heart broke....Insted of having fun in the woods building fires and getting drunk(good combo).....I'll be riding in the redneck rice festival parade....
 
I actually hired a BF member who is a student at my university and now works in my lab, full time in summer and part time in the semester. Works out well. Sucks that he has nicer knives than me though :D

It's not a bad idea, just kind of out of the league in this type of forum. People become friends on forums, but there are other ways to communicate (i.e. swap digits, email addresses, meet up like Mrs. Shotty suggested). Hell, this is the field of work I'm aiming at going into (Social psych). There's nothing wrong with helping people out and talking with them, but again that can be done through other means.
 
I think that idea has potential, for example if someone needs help or is looking for work, you can post it up on that thread. Or if some one is looking for extra band aides, toys for kids, school supplies, or needs a backpack or has an extra that they will give away, they can list on there. Here is another. Someone has baby clothes to give away and someone else needs those clothes, those 2 people can help each other out via this thread. I think it can have potential, and can help alot of members out.

I agree let's keep it off of here .. email or pm each other and work it behind the scene....
