Hi all

I got me a Green-t Commander '2000 this week and noticed that my '99 dated Commander has thicker scales and Ti liners.....so question is....are there three changes to the existing Commander range.....seeing that it is common knowledge that the '98 Commander's had thicker scales and liners...than those made in '99?

Just wonderin'

I'm not sure when the changes took place.

Does your '99 have the second detent or the new blade grind?

Hi guys!

Donald
I ordered a plain edge but the dealer sent me a serrated one...I've grown to like the serrated one...so I think I'll get me a plain edge as well!!

Hiya John ..it's alway a pleasure to hear from you.
I'm not too sure...maybe you can enlighten me..I've checked the liner lock and have notice on the '00 a detent and a ball, on the '99 only a ball!
The blade grind I'm not too sure as well.....I've noticed on the '00 the swedge is not very deep leaving more thickness to the top of the blade........on the '99 the swedge is deeper thus a thinner blade on the top.
When I close the Green Commander it 'catches'
on something before I fully close it.......whereas on the '99 it's one smooth motion! Hope that kinda makes sense.

ps. When are you getting your 'Antique Gold Commander', John?

Definitely sounds like your '99 is "old style". I like the newer glade grind, but I really like the thicker body of the old style Commanders.

Which brings me to the "Customized" Commander question. Mine isn't going to be "Antique Gold", mine is a Black-T 50/50 2000 model that is getting Green Micarta scales.

I had requested that Tom make the scales "a tad thicker" then the ones that came with it. This will give me the best of both world.

Tom had to order up some longer screws to finish the project. That's been the delay on my getting it. He tells me the project is done other then screwing it all back together.

An interesting side note, the "Antique Gold" Commander came in with scales that are just a hair thicker then my '98 Commander. Mine should be a handfull.

Pictures will be up within the hour of my getting it.

John

I have re-educated myself when disassembling my SOCFK(sorted out my blade rubbing the liners problem)

My '99 Commander does have the second ball detent( I checked your photos in the forum on Commanders) but it definitly has thicker scales and liners that my Green-T just like your photos again, it also has the older blade grind with has a thinner top edge as opposed to the thicker top edge of my Green-t and your phtos once again.
