In the other parts of the forum there are quite a few knife collectors. Here its like everyone, or most of the people,
have knives that are being used as tools instead of put in glass cabinet awaited to be dusted of.
I havent been here that long but this is something that really stands out here.

Yep, that's pretty much it. ESEE knives sure do look nice but the first thing I do is get out and use them. Don't care about wear marks, scuffs and scratches. Get off your butt, go build skills and use ESEE knives for tools to further your knowledge and skill base. :D

The first thing I did with my RC-4 was baton a pile of frozen birch.I mean RIGHT out of the ...er bag.:P
My Izula is all cruddy from being used as a bar-b q knife for 3 days 2 weeks ago.I cleaned it well but the ants are all filled in and dirty.
These knives just beg to be used.

A knife is a tool - there may be artistic qualities, and appreciation in the design, but it is first and foremost, an implement to compensate for the human being's lack of fangs or claws.

Knives as art are, like all well-crafted things, attractive and interesting; but ESEE is all about business.

I think that, if anything, you're highly likely to get a torch put under your a$$ if you post up pics of a knife with no visible scratches! :D

People actually buy knives to put in a case to just... look at?!

What kind of a twisted individual would do a sick thing like that? That must be that "abuse" stuff people talk about in warranty disclaimers...

;):D

I get into using my knives so much that I accidentally call them a "dirty whore" sometimes!

i don't colllect knives, i use them. ESEE makes what I think are the best usung knives I can afford to buy.
Another observation though, this forum will get to you. after hanging out here for a while, I find myself putting together survival kits just in case, and trying my hand at building snares and swamp beds. Never did that before. Its fun, though.

yeah, weird huh.
Have been looking at a fixed esee(4, 5 or 6) knife to accompany my buck 110 and inbound izula. But the idea that it may not get used keeps me from ordering one, so far. on the other hand, i will probably make up a use for it....

I hear ya, already been looking for an area that i could try and make a shelter just for heck of it. That never crossed my mind before i ventured here.

One of the cool things around here is the motivation to get out and do something. The wear and hard use of the knives just comes out of that. The closest I come to having a collector esee is the pack knife, and even that I carry and use

Yeah...this is the only forum where I feel I have to apologize for having not put any scratches on a knife yet! :)

Seems to be the concensus.
I had a need for a knife to use everyday to follow me everywhere I went. I found the price reviews of quality and reputation pushed me towards esee(formerly rat).

I've seen some knives I maybe wouldn't want to use or abuse but I have no need for them.

Love my izula!!

Every time an unused ESEE knife pic is posted, Jeff kills a kitten.

Well then.............

The point with ESEE knives is that even after hours of work they still look untouched. So you can easily post an unused knive and say its been used ;)

I know that I work too hard to save money for each knife I get not to use them. Whenever I get a new knife it atleast does some kitchen time until I get a chance to take it outside. I am anxiously waiting for my RC 3 to replace my BM Onslaught as my EDC to go with my Izula. Ever since I got my Izula I wont leave home without it. By the way, if you didnt know already, The watch pocket in jeans makes a perfect location for the Izula.
