I've seen many different knives with blades of many different shapes and have often wondered what each shape was designed to do. I know what I did mostly with the clip, sheep's foot and the spade shaped blades but that only covers 3 of the many different shapes and styles of blades. So is there a section here on the forum that list all the different shapes and uses of those shapes. This would be interesting. I don''t know others have given thought to this but I know I have. Thanks

Most of them for cutting. Some, like my very tactical tanto, are good for piercing AND spreading cream cheese/peanut butter.

I mostly agree. I hunt and for small game I prefer the clip but for deer the drop point. I’m retired now but when I was working I favored the sheeps foot for wire

You'll get the most use out of a drop Point IMO
And there's a reason that shape has been around for thousands of years

The main function of any knife blade style is to attract a buyer.

It's then up to the buyer to invent a useful purpose for that style.
