not that its really that importiant to know
i was just curious after seeing all the different kinds of steel used in knives.
thanks for the info.

If it is a newer one (I think after 1993) it is 420HC. Before that they were 425MOD and before that they where 440C

Stu,

Welcome to the forums! You can feel free to ask any question you like around here. This is a great bunch of folks.
Jeffo is correct in his answer. If you have a 110 now, tell me what the blade stamp says and i should be able to tell you the type of steel used.

Take care,

Stu,

A Folding Hunter model 110 with a "U" date code, which is the code for 1998, has a blade of 420 high carbon steel.
Now that one was kind of easy, You got anything better!

thanks a lot joe i am working on some better questions? how about some advice on tactical folders and fixed blade knives.
i am into fishing and camping and outdoor activities in general and want to get a good quality knife without having to break the bank. i am in the 50-100 dollar range and have looked at a few models but would like some advice on what to look for. i dont want to waste my money on a knife that sounds nice on paper but falls short under moderate use.
any tips greatly appreciated
