Just a quick question about warranty

I have recently scored couple of SHSJ from the forum, and I love them, I think they are one of the best knives I've ever had. Perfect ergonomic for me, and fast in hand. Never used Asymetrical edge before, but heard a lot about it.
My question is, how does Busse warranty works for knives that are out of production, and can't be reproduced? I don't think I can ever damage these babies bad enough, unless I do some radical stuff like NOSS, but suppose I had to use the knife in certain way that would have damaged it beyond repair, what happens then? I've already confirmed with Garth that SHSJ can't be made again. So does Busse give something that's similar in value? And how does that value determined? SHSJ fetches a lot more money than when it was first introduced.
Like I said, not like I will be able to damage these knives unless I was trying very hard, but want to know what Busse warranty means for out-of-production knives.

HISknife,

Best bet is to call Busse Combat to get the official version of what is covered, and how they handle warranty issues on irreplaceable knives. :)

Last I recall for blades no longer available, it was shop credit for the original purchase price FROM BUSSE COMBAT. In otherwords, if you break a rare 1/100 limited edition busse that cost 350 bucks new, and you paid 1500 bucks for it, you will get a shop credit for 350 usd.

Yes, that is my understanding too ....it was one of the well made points about using a BWM LE as a user in another thread .... even if you had a similar balanced SHBM which was a user in the past and was bought off the exchange .... the SHBM would not be able to be replaced .... and even a custom shop modern one would cost you more .... so a number of HOGS were using their BWM LE's instead ....

This sounds awfully harsh and Un-BusseCombatesque. I doubt they would send you packing with $300.00.

Well IIRC this was posted by Jerry in the past .... although perhaps if they had an old blank they would do you another knife .....

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Jerry and the gang would do all they could for your particular situation. But they stated that they can't be held responsible for the collector value that some knives may reach.

I agree... That's what I was getting at.:)

Jaxx, you're right. I will call and hear what they say. I'm sure they have in mind what's fair and honorable for their customers.

I'm sure that Jerry would take the best care of you he could within reason. I agree with the fact that they shouldn't be expected to compensate replacement cost at a collectible value in lieu of msrp/list prices. It's not like Busse sells them at collectors prices from the start.
