Will - It occurred to me (as I was ordering one of your boot knives), that it would be more cost effective and produce a better knife if manufactures would abandon low grade stainless steel and go with good old 1095 painted with some of these high tech epoxys such as Gun-Cote or Moly-Cote. you would get a great steel that is "tactical" and rust proof. All's you have to do is bead blast the metal, paint it, let dry for 3 hrs, and bake for a couple minutes at 350. Of course you wouldn't get to call it "stainless steel" wich may be a marketing faux pau. Your Thoughts?

I don't know a hell of a lot about various steels, but I can say that my carbon steel knives perform much better than my stainless steel knives.

wow what a thought a single edged carbon steel boot knife with a decent handle and good edge holding capability great concept,

i will take a few if the price is right!!!

P.S. THE BECKER BRUTE ROCKS!!!

Actually, I'm a folding kind of guy. I wouldn't mind seeing Camillus make an EDC with a tough as nails carbon steel. It would be worth any extra care for the advantages.
