just another gadget

That's beautiful! I guess someone was bound to make a real-world model. :)

Thanks for the link!

I was thinking it would be nice to have one of these then that got me to thinking about all the crap I've seen that I'd like to have. Imagine that you are Bill Gates or suchlike with unlimited money. I'd need a house twice the size of the Pentagon and sheds covering several thousand acres to hold the stuff I've wanted over the years.

Well, if it's just something to put on a shelf, you'll need lots of rooms with shelves. But you can drink out of the Klein Stein! You do need something to drink out of, don't you? :D

Any excuse will do when you really, really need to spend $80 on a chunk of who-knows-what.

I think midget has found the only thing in the world more difficult to get a drink out of than me!

:D

I really like the cutting edge jugsaw puzzle versions, occassionally found on the warehouse floor....

Great website; nice sense of humor.

But - could someone PLEASE explain in plain English what these things are actually used for?

Storage of n-dimensional liquids.

Hope that helps.

Not really! :)

What ARE "n-dimensional" liquids? (Scotch, beer, cognac, brandy?)

And WHY do they have to be "stored" this way? (Aren't empty wine bottles good enough?)

n-dimensions...

by convention, the letter "n" represents the set of natural numbers: integers or nonnegative integers.

so in mathematics it can be written

n = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...}

the convention is used for things like orders or sequences.

so gajinoz is using the "n" convention to describe a quantized property: dimensions.

as in, "you can use this cup to store objects existing in 1 dimension." "you can use this cup to store objects existing in 2 dimensions." "you can use this cup to store objects existing in 3 dimensions." "you can use this cup to store objects existing in '4' dimensions." "you can use this cup to store objects existing in 'infinity' dimensions."

it's just a big nerdy joke.

I don't get any of this. I'm going somewhere else. Where was that thread on boobies...

I'm with you! :)

(that's what I like about nerds - they UNDERSTAND all of it, they just can't EXPLAIN any of it. ;) ;) ;) )
