Here's one I just got mailed off to its new owner yesterday. This is the results from the thread I stated in ShopTalk. First time I didn't use any other influence for the design except for using a whole osic as an idea for the handle shape. Its got a plan old hickory handle and a hand forged 1080 head. 6 1/2" head, 3 1/2" cutting edge, and is just under 15".

That's way cool, Ray.
Can you give us a shot of the eye assembly?
I saw your preliminary handle shaping and was curious how you completed the assembly.

Karl, You would ask. :D I never did get a picture of that but its the same hook up as a wood handled ax or hammer would have. Basically a slit with a wedge driven in it.

Though it's not one of the fanciest hawks I've seen, it's one of the nicest. It has a look of tremendous symmetry.

I'm with Keith, that's one of the nicest Hawks seen. It's so simple and clean it becomes elegant.

Here's a link to the thread I mentioned in the first post: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=597930 This thread starts at the conception of this hawk.

Ray, that progression thread is one of the best I've ever seen... I know you weren't wanting it to get quite as entertaining as it did, with the crack and all, but it sure made for a great thread

Guys, when you get an extra couple of minutes, click the link, it's worth the read.

Simple, elegant . . . yes . . . but altogether sexy too, with those subtle, compound curves in the handle. Ray, you've been sneak peeking in your wife's Victoria Secrets Christmas flyer haven't you?
